Fuller Park is located at 331 W. 45th Street in the south side neighborhood of the same name. The park is named after Melville W. Fuller, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and South Park Commissioner. The park opened in 1911 with a Greek revival style field house designed by Edward Bennett of D.H. Burnham and Company. The field house is a complex of buildings with a central courtyard. A series of Progressive-Era murals, painted by John Warner Norton in 1912, adorn the walls of the assembly hall.  The nine murals show scenes of French exploration in muted organic colors. Norton’s interest in Japanese art shows in his depiction of the landscape. >>
