Chicago Resources We love Chicago and encourage you to check out these galleries, museums and businesses. They enrich and support our creative endeavors as we live and work in this wonderful place. The Museum of Contemporary Photography located in downtown Chicago is dedicated to the collection and study of photography. The Midwest Photographers Project, sponsored and managed by the Museum of Contemporary Photography, is a rotating collection of portfolios by both prominent and emerging photographers from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The collection is housed in the museum's print study room and can be viewed by appointment. Gary and Susan have both been part of this collection. The Chicago Architectural Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the public appreciation of architecture through year-round education and exhibitions. The CAF has a wonderful store on Michigan Avenue full of books, maps, and gift items all thematically tied to the celebration of architecture. The tours offered by the CAF are the best way to experience the wonderful architecture of Chicago. We particularly recommend the river boat tour. The Photography Department at the Chicago Art Institute offers shows and events year round. The Stephen Daiter and Catherine Edelman galleries are devoted exclusively to fine art photography. They are conveniently located across the street from each other on West Superior in Chicago's river north neighborhood. Calumet Photo is the area's leading professional retailer for photographic equipment and supplies. They also have a large rental service. Pixel Mint is the place in town for high end scans. We trust them for their dependable quality and service. The local chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers brings excellent programs and a sense of community to local professionals. |
